The Sudbury Rowing Club is a not for profit, incorporated organization that is run entirely by a group of dedicated volunteers. While membership and program fees supply the majority of monies to cover day to day operating costs, we still rely on fundraising to generate income in an attempt to keep program fees as low as possible.
We are always looking for volunteers to assist with our fundraising efforts, and any amount of time you can donate to our cause is appreciated. Requests for volunteers are announced in the club’s newsletters throughout the year. If you have ideas or suggestions for new ways to raise funds, please bring them to the attention of the Fundraising Coordinator, or the club’s Executive.
If you are unable to donate your time to our fundraising efforts, but would like to help in the form of a cash donation, please make your cheque payable to: Sudbury Rowing Club. Mail it to: 1935 Paris St., Plaza 69, Box 21006, Sudbury, ON, P3E 6C6 with ATTENTION: Treasurer in the bottom right corner. Thank you!
Annual Yard Sale
Usually held the first Saturday in June, the yard sale is a great way for members to donate items to a good cause. Members are notified by club newsletter with the details of the upcoming sale. Items for the sale can either be brought directly to the clubhouse, or to the designated location of the sale.
Chocolate Bar and Pepperette Sales
A & J Home Hardware at the corner of Bouchard and Regent Streets is the site of ongoing chocolate bar and pepperette sales. At a cost of $2.00 each they are an effective and efficient way to raise funds. If you would like to purchase a case of thirty for $60.00 please contact Val Michel. Take a case to work, and make everybody happy!
Annual Erg Auction
The club’s six Concept II ergometers go up for silent auction to club members every October. The six highest bidders get to “babysit” our equipment for five months, practice their rowing technique, and stay physically fit. Members are notified by newsletter in late September when bidding will start and end. Winners are announced via newsletter. Cheques must be brought to the boathouse when ergs are picked up.
We would like to thank the following local businesses for their donations and ongoing support and commitment to fitness in our community:
A & J Home Hardware
Appraisals North Realty Inc.
Candu Engineering Construction Ltd.
Cara's Convenience Store
Please demonstrate your thanks by supporting their businesses in return!
