ImageLearning to row takes place over two sessions: one ‘dry land' that takes place in and around the boathouse, and one 'on the water'  in training sculls and/or racing shells on Lake Ramsey.

The purpose of the LTR is to

  • introduce people of all ages and abilities to the sport of rowing
  • teach basic rowing techniques and boat handling skills
  • teach basic water safety practice

Participants will have the opportunity to practice rowing with experienced club members. Both certified coaches and experienced club members teach beginners, with a motorized safety boat accompanying rowers during all LTR sessions. You will be provided with a waist style PFD (personal flotation device) for on water sessions. At the end of this introduction to rowing, you will have the option of joining the rowing club as a member to continue improving your rowing skills.

If you want to give this low impact sport a try, then

  • check the May & June  Event Calendar for this season's proposed LTR dates.

Before undertaking any new physical activity, it is recommended that you consult with the appropriate medical professionals.
