RCA Female Sculler of the Year

On January 28, 2012, Carling Zeeman was awarded Rowing Canada Aviron's Female Sculler of the year award at the national sport governing body's annual awards' ceremony in Toronto.

RCA Female Sculler of the Year Carling and Katya Carling has had a great year of racing which includes gold at the RowOntario Championships, Royal Canadian Henley, OUA Championships, Canadian University Rowing Championships, and the National Rowing Championships.

Carling has also won a number of other prestigious awards this year including an OUA All-Star, Canadian University Female Athlete of the Year, and several Laurentian University Athlete of the Week awards.

Carling won this award alongside a former Sudbury Rowing Club oarswoman, Katya Herman.

Congratulations to Carling and Katya!

SRC WINTER SOCIAL EVENT

Winter Potluck and XC Ski

About 22 SRC members and their families came together on Saturday evening for a wonderful potluck dinner and social event. Skiiers enjoyed quiet trails as the dusk fell, and several intrepid snowshoers headed out after dinner for an evening walk. Many thanks to Annemarie May for organizing the event, and to Gerard Courtin for enabling the use of the Chalet and its amenities at Lake Laurentian Conservation Area.

Last Row of the 2011 Season

Six intrepid rowers braved the chill on Saturday morning for a great row on a calm, beautiful Lake Ramsey. Thank you Andy B. for driving the safety boat! Thank you also to those who came to help close up the boat house for the winter, and those who came out for a fun breakfast in honour of Andy B.'s contributions to the Club. Best wishes as well to Andy K. who is heading south to warmer climes (and year-round rowing!). We hope to see you back at the Club in the future.
